Fuzzy Philosophy: Being Tall

Dear Cleo,

I'm 6'5" and I feel really self-conscious about my height. I often feel like I stick out like a sore thumb. How can I embrace my tallness and feel more comfortable in my own skin?

Sincerely,

Tall and Timid

Dear Tall and Timid,

First of all, congratulations on your impressive height! I once met a giraffe who was over 16 feet tall, so I can tell you, being tall has its perks—like being able to reach the tastiest bamboo leaves at the top of the tree. Although come to think of it, I'm not sure if giraffes eat bamboo. They might be more into leaves and stuff. Anyway, back to your question!

Being tall means you're practically a living skyscraper! Think of all the advantages you have: you can see over crowds at concerts, you never lose sight of your friends at the zoo, and you probably don't have to worry about anyone stealing your hat off your head. Speaking of hats, have you considered wearing a very tall hat? That way, you can turn heads even more and maybe start a new fashion trend! Who wouldn’t want to be known as the person with the coolest hat in town?

To feel more comfortable in your own skin, I suggest embracing your inner tree. Trees are tall, and majestic, and don't seem to mind towering over everyone. Next time you feel self-conscious, just think, "What would a tree do?" (WWATD). Probably sway in the wind and photosynthesize, but since you can't do that, maybe just stand tall and proud, knowing you're offering shade and comfort to those around you.

And remember, even if you feel like a sore thumb, thumbs are super important! Try doing anything without using your thumbs—it's nearly impossible. So, metaphorically speaking, you're an essential part of the world, and without you, everything would be less thumbs-up!

Embrace your height with open arms—literally, stretch those long arms wide! And don't forget to keep an eye out for those low door frames. They can be tricky. Just ask the giraffe!

Fuzzily yours,

Cleo
